When I was searching Youtube I came across this video from 1900 which is amazingly good quality. I suspect it's been digitally enhanced while ambient sound has also been added and the speed corrected. It's absolutely fascinating to see everyday people and also children of the UK just going about their normal daily lives 118 years ago, but it's also in a way really sad to know that every single person we see in this movie is no longer with us, yet back then individual lives would have seemed just as important to them as ours are now. Also take a look at some of the Ads on the other trams, the first one is for the Dean Chemist which advertises "teeth carefully extracted", imagine what having your teeth extracted would have been like back then.
Description copied from Youtube:
"Camera mounted at the front of a streetcar tram riding through Rochdale, UK in the year 1900. A haunting/evocative look at a day in the life 115 years ago! Added some sound for ambience. This film is from the Mitchell and Kenyon collection."
Finally imagine what it would be like to be autistic living in 1900 in the UK, obviously there would be no support and if you weren't careful you could even up in a pauper lunatic asylum as they'd probably still be called back then, imagine how you'd be treated there and what treatment you'd be subjected to.
