    I bicycle everywhere because I'm from the Netherlands, but for me it's lost it's charm after doing it my entire life almost every day.

    @phantom it's never about charm, it's about transportation--the absolute STATE of the tires on my car, the cost of gasoline, and the fact I would rather be a fit & independent cyclist than depend on motors for everything.

    How exciting. You'll be fine - our caravan friend lived 20 years in the bush and enjoyed it, when he finished a few decades of tuna fishing on his little boat and living in suburbia.

    It's a space of your own from which you can't be evicted, even if you have to drive it somewhere else. That is stability and peace of mind. Plus you can save up on rent money and do useful things with that instead.

    And you can make it just exactly how you want it!

    I am beginning to wonder whether ADHD might be comorbid with high functioning autism for me. Either that or I'm burned out. Cannot tell.

    Brain fog, confusion, restlessness, hyperactivity can all be part of burnout. Depending on how bad it is, SSRIs can be helpful in some situations like this. They wind the stress response back a bit by stopping your brain from chewing up too much serotonin in response to the stress.

    Good for some people, as a supplementary thing to lifestyle management, when in particularly stressful periods in a life. I've got times where I go back on them, after initially trialling them as part of PTSD treatment. Was very wary of the idea at first; now I see it a bit like taking extra Vitamin E when I'm about to do something more strenuous physically than normal.

    My doctor said she occasionally goes back on them so she can visit her mother-in-law once every couple of years without getting triggered by her poor behaviour. Sigh! I can see what she's saying, but in that case I'd more likely just not visit...

    College can really be a lot. My last semester in college, I only took 4 classes and was still stressed over the tops because of my capstone. Anything you want advice on?

    Thanks for the offer--It's mostly a clash of executive function & workload. I'll be OK next semester.
    4 classes is what I'm doing now. Usually it's 5. That does not work so great.

    Logistical uncertainty in life lately is pretty stressful, but in a way it almost is like being a little kid playing in a sandbox again.

    The old truck is a 1970s model and needs work--but I can get it going, especially since it's not costing money. If I get it, I'll have a place that is MINE. Not anyone else's. No landlord either.

    It's the "drive" part that's unlikely at the moment but if the owners want to get rid of it, I'd gladly pay him a bit extra to wait until I can get some folks together & we yank it out with a flat-bed.

    My home came with an outdoor grill :) I loved iced tea when I barbecue. And yeah, it's a good way to cool off. I usually have iced drinks by the pool too.

    Figured that the opposite of "cop benefit" would be "old lady doing bake sale benefits on Earth Day" so I faked out that "Julia" was enthusiastic about it & would bring all her friends...

    They quit sounding so brave. Eventually they answered the phone asking for Julia--I told them (in my normal voice) to -- well, never mind--and I've not heard from them since.

    Usually if papers bother me sufficiently I take them out back, douse them with used crankcase oil out of the car, and set them on fire.

    No joke, I have to do this thing called a Business Activity Statement every three months, which involves a lot of paperwork and going through receipts. And when I'm done, I take pleasure in burning all the receipts that I do not need to keep. :)

    Also I had to learn about accounting and the Australian tax system three years after we moved to the farm because our accountant, whom we hired because we'd never done business tax before, did our returns incorrectly, and from then on I wanted to do them myself. And I laugh every time I see this clip, because it is completely accurate:
