What are you using as caulk between the strips? Is it standard caulk or something else? I remember instructions for one of these somewhere but they said to use pine pitch and that sounds a bit messy. It looks nice and I hope it handles as nice as it looks.

@Gerontius , the water resistance will come from the layer of fiberglass/epoxy that will go on the outside and inside of the hull. This is classic monocoque design. The fiberglass will carry all the stress as one sheet will always be in tension and the other side in compression. The wood only acts as a spacer. It makes nice stiff hulls.

Right, that sounds strong anyway and should give it a nice finished look outside--but I was looking at the sticky stuff between the wooden ribs. If there's not caulk I'm guessing that stuff is a wood-glue for construction?
