  • I have to sit down and write it all out but I'm looking at some excellent news here.

Wellllllll. Let the other shoe drop and let us in on the good news you breathlessly dropped on us.
Tchaikovsky on the radio right now. I should have bought a good FM radio a long time ago.

The sound quality of tube type equipment has such a warmer quality to it than transistorized stuff.
I have a "fake" audiophile Bose Wave radio here, but since I live in a river valley, the reception is poor at best.
My favorite tuner amp is likely my Onkyo with the runner up being an Onkyo surround system that plays a fairly decent station 24/7.

I put a bluetooth module on it so we can play stuff remotely off of our phones.
My entertainment system is based on a Yamaha surround sound system bolstered with audiophile quality 5 way speakers augmented with a 250 watt sub.

I usually have tube radios but I confess this one was transistorized. You have really got a nice setup.
Tomorrow is a major religious holiday for Catholics. The day after should be a major holiday for me (being done.) Yet somehow final exams are a drain on the entire system.

It's the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. Protestants use the words immaculate conception to reference the whole virgin birth thing but Catholics are talking about Mary not having original sin

Wordsworth's poem with the lines: "Mother! whose virgin bosom was uncrossed/ With the least shade of thought to sin allied" basically is what was so exciting they made it a holiday. Wordsworth was a Protestant but he had the right idea

Oh yes, I have heard of that before, just forgot. Wishing you an early Merry Christmas!
Hurrah for having a whole paper to write that I didn't realize needed to be written. Familiar enough topic, but I don't relish the timing.

It's mostly Internet and TV that's causing it. 90% of people wouldn't really use computers that much if they couldn't connect to their social media garbage.

Personally I love computer science, it seems like my brain was made for it. I am not really concerned over missing out on interacting with real people, Autism has makes it near impossible to have friends anyway.

Without computers I guess I would have been a book person and spend more time on math Instead of programming. Still spend all my time isolated in my room.

You do seem exceptionally good at computers. I'd disagree a tiny bit about friendship and autism, it's hard to have NT friends sometimes though, for sure.

    Computer science is pretty interesting.
This website has probably been the most constructive online space I've been on in a long time. Thank you all. You are good friends.

I always appreciate your posts Gerontius.=)
Things that used to be difficult with executive functioning are getting somewhat better, and it is a hopeful thing.
Today I think some of my friends IRL are beginning to be affected by seasonal depression. I wish winter was cosy instead of sorrowful.

I wish I could hibernate through winter and wake up in spring with all of my belly fat gone.

@Metalhead wouldn't that be fun? I don't mind winter much but it's definitely a trifle gloomier outside. Soak up all the sunshine you can get, I guess.
Spent the morning digging through a stash of gramophone records, the midday networking so I can start a second job and further a career, the afternoon out on a good horse, and the evening in a text of Thomistic metaphysics. Work, study, exercise, and music. Not bad!

And the funniest part is I haven't had time all day to doomscroll through posts on the internet, so that's been good. I am starting to suspect that too much of my doomscrolling was actually quite detrimental to creativity and mental clarity. I'm not too creative & I'm not that much of a planner but I do like to be more optimistic.

My interests have gained me some notoriety in my community & I am networking with the folks who trade antiques professionally. My interest in horsemanship is actually going somewhere, pun intended, and I've figured out a number of things with that I thought I was incapable of, newfound physical dexterity has improved that. And my head is clearer; even favorite records sound fresh.
Hi, Awful People checking in. I don't leak DMs but I do cite public posts. On behalf of Catholics I am so sorry, we aren't all like this. Same goes for Autistic people. We aren't all this way.
Negative cultural perception of religion is most strongly driven by the attitudes and reactions of the angrily religious devotees.

The whole culture war nonsense can be resolved as simply as humbly acknowledging that the majority of Christian people are damned poor advertising for their faith.
Raise your hand if you hate the question, "Where are you from?"

I respond by saying I am from Hell and I have come to collect your soul. That shuts them up very quickly. :)

I get it all the time. I always say I'm from here, born and raised. They say, of course but where do you/family originally come from? (Thanks for reminding me that because I'm not white/black that I must hail from somewhere else).
Do you have any finished novels?

I think I can arrange to send you something! Be warned, I'm an amateur who probably should not be let near a pen without supervision.
