  • Why are all the lows so low and the highs never high enough...?

I have a hard life too, and sometimes I'm so very sad, but I've had to learn gratitude in all seasons. It's hard, but being able to accept the things I cannot change, and yet be thankful for just one good thing can be like sunlight exploding into a dark room.

I hope you feel better soon. xo. I'll pray for you.

No other human experience can reach the same depth as pain, it's really the most intense and bounding force there is. (Yes humans bound over pain aversion and vulnerability more so than over joy and strength).
Happy National Coffee Day (Go figure I don't get any sleep last night. The universe has aligned once again.)
Feel like some threads could use some sort of poster intentions tag like, 'seeking advice', 'just venting', 'general musings', etc.
First cold front of the season on the first day of Fall. Couldn't be more perfect. So begins my favorite season...
Anyone else get anxiety from the emergency alert system tests?

You'd think by now, all this technology they'd come up with a better voiceover. Or a tone that's less apocalyptic. The worst is when the volume is already high and it comes out of nowhere. Heart attack pending...

Right before the morning news comes on air on KFBK-AM in Sacramento (5 AM PDT weekdays) there are frequent EAS mini-tests. I have gotten used to them. They do The Big Test around 11:30 AM once a month. I try to remember to tune in for those, just to see what they're like, but have only remembered maybe once or twice.

I have only heard a REAL not-a-drill announcement of what was then EBS (Emergency Broadcast System) ONCE and that was on KCBS-AM San Francisco right after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Basic announcement for ALL firefighters and cops to report to duty IMMEDIATELY if possible. IIRC the actual announcement itself was difficult to hear, they must not have tested the part where they tell people what to do.
Hosting my first game night in a really long time. Unfortunately it's been one of those mental pain weeks. Hoping for no triggers

What sort of aches and pains do you get? You say mental, so I assume stress related? I too get them a lot.

Just another fun round of revisiting a painful past. Been too many triggers lately. And then the same old psiatic nerve pain I've had since I was 12 as well as a new foot pain which came out of nowhere. Fun stuff.

I've been told EFT tapping and meditation are free and simple things that might help. I know Youtube has lots of videos for both.

I miss social distancing and covering my face and empty stores. Lol

Same for this introvert. But I still wear my mask when I remember. Just so people can't see my anger at irritating strangers. Loved empty stores too, good old days!

The mask actually helped me! I no longer had to worry about what my face was doing and what negative judgements I was getting about looking too "serious" or whatever. I felt so relaxed - because my face actually was relaxed! :-D
Pandemic->Social distancing and sanitizing->immune system got a break->opening back up->immune system got weak->now all sick

Variants have been popping up for a long time now, the first covid virus was documented over 100 years ago and I speculate that it's probably existed longer than mankind. I know it's real and serious for sure, but I think the fear mongering needs to stop. It's just reality and panicking about reality never helps a thing.

I highly doubt the entire world would shutdown and risk their economies if this particular strain (yes covid variants have existed before) wasn't serious enough to warrant such. Anyway I don't listen to online propaganda, it's real life to me, as I know too many lost in my community. A close friend only just lost his perfectly healthy mom last month. I'll debate no further.

I guess we have different realities, and I'm sorry for your losses.
I don't understand people who go across the world to another country only to sit at a resort pool all day. You can do that at home for cheap

I enjoy travel (did a lot in my career) but I've gotta be active, whether it is kayaking from island to island near Dubrovnik, or diving off of Sulawesi or Borneo. Sitting around a resort bores me and is for the dull-witted.
