I'm sure we'll all be fumbling around the site until we get used to it. I have always used ad blockers so I never see ads anyway.

I wanna support the site, so I had my adblocker shut off here, but this is ridiculous.
    Did you read Neuromancer?

From a chain like Barnes & Noble or Half Price Books? I tend to find new prints at the former (Though I understand their prices can be high and it’s tough managing a membership with them. I got mine through luck.) and good bargains on older or OOP books that might be pricey online from the latter.

It was a local chainless second hald bookstore. They're amazing. They tend to sell classics for cheap, and with the original covers. I bought a signed copy of a Harlan Ellison story collection for 20 bucks there.

There’s an indie book store in Austin called Book People. It’s two stories tall and has pretty much everything. I actually got a science fiction collection from HPB signed by all the authors in it and it was only $7, IIRC. Also bought a rare copy of Vol. 29 of the Flame of Recca manga for about that much. Sellers on Amazon and eBay try to sell it for $100-$500!
Is there a local comic book/toy shop where you live? I miss the old one that was in business from 1988-2013 in my area. The owner was nice and I actually got my old SJ Advanced volumes of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure from him. That’s partly why I’ve held onto them even after getting the newer editions. I wish I did the same with the Evangelion volumes. I didn’t realize sentimentality until it was too late.

Hey I found a good 90's superhero comic. It's Brat Pack by Rick Veitch. The only superhero media I will consume are the ones that deconstruct and satirize them. I'm also a fan of Watchmen and I have some interest in The Boys.

I’ll have to look it up. The 90s are much better than some people remember. Lobo from DC satirizes characters like Wolverine.

Though I haven’t read any of his comics lately, I still like Hellboy and credit him into getting me into American comics. I also like an Italian comic called Keepers of the Maser and a French comic called Requiem Chevalier Vampire but sadly they’ve both been on hiatus for years now.

The silly woman I’ve mentioned before once asked me what cirrhosis of the liver was because her friend was dying from it and she actually doesn’t realize a computer can be used for more things than social media. When I tried to explain to her what it was and what it does, I mentioned that it can cut your lifespan in half and she replied “It’s gonna cut her in half?!?” in a shocked tone.

She also thinks GTA and Mortal Kombat is the entire spectrum of video games.

Maybe she has an auditory processing disorder. Besides having what sounds like no experience with video games.

Good point. She also lives in one of the “ghetto” areas of the area so she’s exposed to a lot of violence so violent video games like that are the “norm” for her.
Many Christians never read the old testament ,many Catholics for instance never read the Bible at all ,were told it would drive them insane

Not true, there's actually a plenary indulgence granted for one who reads the Bible for 15 minutes; I myself try to read 1 chapter of the Bible everyday. Historically, the reason why Catholics didn't read the Bible that often, was because of 1) the high levels illiteracy back then, (which is also one of the reasons why we have statues & icons) and 2) making books back than was very difficult and thus, very expensive.

@Crossbreed Some OT names I want name (Lord Willing) my future children are, Ruben, Isaac, (albeit, this name refers more to St. Isaac Jogues) Bathsheba, Rahab, Emmanuel, maybe Josheba, maybe Idida; (Jedidah, in most Bible translations) and probably Judith, albeit, she only appears in the Catholic OT.
The person who wondered why I didn’t become a school shooter has seriously asked me this question:

“Is it true someone got swallowed by Moby Dick and they lived in his stomach until he let them out?”

I read a long time ago that there was a real case where a guy on a whaling ship wound up swallowed by a whale as the whale fought the whalers and he was only discovered when the whalers were butchering their catch. Supposedly he was hairless and blind for the rest of his life and made shoes for a living. The source for that story was an obscure "strange but true" book from the late 1950s though.

Oh, and the original author of the Great Fish story didn't mean it literally. In ancient Judea being "swallowed by a great fish" meant you were in an impossible situation. We would say "between a rock and a hard place". Jonah was forced against his will to go to a wicked city and preach moral reform.

Are you talking about the James Bartley story? That story is most likely a fabrication. The whale was supposedly a sperm whale but scientists say that even if a human missed the teeth of a sperm whale, he or she would still die because of the lack of oxygen in the whale’s four chambered stomach. Balleen whales, including blue whales, can’t swallow humans at all because their throats are too small.
Any interest in the book series I recommended?

You should. You can see where things like Ghost in The Shell and Eden It’s An Endless World! as well as The Matrix got their ideas from. The former two handled them in a much better fashion, IMO.

Not me but I know someone who has it. He’s 40 but still has the brain of an angry 5 year old. He cusses out and threatens physical violence towards his adoptive parents, teachers, restaurant workers, social workers, employers, gas station workers, and non-Republican presidents.
