It’s May 13th, the feast of Our Lady of Fatima! The Marian Apparition that brought me back to the Faith. Thank you dear Blessed Mother!

Ironically, today is also Eid al-Fitr for Muslims, the end of Ramadan. Muslims use lunar calendars, so it changes every year. Sacramento has a large Muslim community and there are traffic jams at all the mosques. Two religions, two feasts, same day, just by coincidence.

On top all that, it’s also the feast of Our Lord’s Ascension into Heaven albeit, this feast is often celebrated on Sundays.

I know it’s not a good idea to bring up WP, but I’m growing potatoes and just came up with this: WP is as neurotoxic as a sprouting potato!

I think I agree. Those potatoes can be rough too--had a garden going with them in it once & it killed a couple of chickens.

Potatoes are the easiest crop to grow! Cut the eyes off of some old potatoes from the store. Each potato eye will become a potato. Get a big bucket and drill holes in the bottom. Alternate layers of soil and potato eyes.

In six months or so, all the potatoes should be ready (once the greens die back). You simply flip over the bucket and dump out the soil and potatoes. Pick out the big ones, and put the tiny ones back in the bucket with the soil, and some new potato eyes, and repeat the process.

I hate to complain but, I’m a bit ticked-off with things here right now, with my parents. I can’t wait until I’m on my own as an adult.

It’s May, the month of Our Lady!; I’m still working on my quest of becoming a homesteader but it’s nice to be in this month of Mary!

Still working on that 3 acres and a cow. I’m dealing with a lot of delays, including still recovering from that stupid mouse infestation.

@tree I’m doing an online course on homesteading, and apparently, a cow breed called Mini Jerseys, is actually easier to care for as livestock than both, other cow breeds and goats. I was under the impression that cows are some of the hardest animals to care for as livestock, but apparently goats are just as hard as cows; while Mini Jerseys are much less demanding than other cows breeds.

It’s the Feast of the Annunciation, the holiest of all Marian feasts. I’ll be back after Easter and I’ll explain myself and what I did then.

Revert to the Catholic Faith, thanks to Our Lady of Fatima. Have a talent for writing literature, and am hoping to explore it. But first I want to get a job and start a family.
