Whomst crafty

Strange juxtaposition today. My stall was the only inside one, setup in a meeting room. Whilst it was at the front of the building, there were signs directing people away from it to the entrance of the cafe.

Foot traffic was slow. I saw most people walking away from the open door to the room, and very few looking back. That started to get me down. Most who did enter wanted to go straight into the cafe. Needless to say my stall felt like a bit of an afterthought. Seeing most people walk away from me took its toll. I'd hoped for more visitors, but again, I'm not sure how big the marketing was for this. Probably not much.

Still, I got to talk to a bunch of people in recovery. Was good to share experiences about quitting drinking and going sober. Also got speaking to a guy who's just about to start art in college. He was a nice guy to chat to.

The art director for the recovery group would like me to participate in some workshops. It'll be an interesting lead and opportunity to help others in recovery too.

No sales, and being sat in an empty room whilst hearing the hustle and bustle of a full cafe behind me was a bit odd. Plus the drain of hearing a crowded environment next to me left exhausted and I left with a splitting headache. Trial by fire for the man with abandonment issues, when more people see me, and don't walk into the room than who walked in to have a look. Didn't feel good by the end as I spent a lot of time directing people on how to find the cafe entrance...

On the plus side I got a form to fill out to be part of an exhibition at the cafe in November 2023. Also, I get to see Meg this weekend, and that makes me happy.

All in all, I'd hoped for at least one sale. I know I shouldn't let it get me down, and I'll keep trying. Feels quite deflating though. But at least I got some leads in other areas, as well as meeting an eclectic mix of people.

To top it off, I was asked to pack up an hour early as they needed the room again lol.
