Where Has All the Money Gone?

Where has all the money gone? I'd like to know. It seems like all you hear on the news is governments being broke. And we aren't talking Third World countries, we are talking First World countries. Recently the US had its credit rating downgraded, and they are still trying to raise the debt ceiling. If I tried to do that with my personal life I would have chaos. Am I smarter than the government? That's pretty scary. And the riots in Britain bring back memories of the 1960's. Yes, they had riots in my hometown then. Greece is in trouble, Japan . . . it's going to be a long time before Japan recovers. Meanwhile there is famine in Africa once more.

I am no economist but it seems to me that unless someone has taken all this money and burned it, it must still exist somewhere. The question is where? Why all of a sudden are the richest countries in the world having financial trouble?

There is a song by the country group "Alabama" that has the line, "Somebody told us Wall Street fell, but we were so poor we couldn't tell." That is about how I feel looking at the world situation. I went through one pension meltdown due to criminal behavior and now it looks like I am about to go through another. Oh, but the people who came to my company to sell this new improved plan said, that is not going to happen, your money is safe. I notice that ever since the economy started going sour they haven't been around much. They used to hold yearly meetings where people could ask questions. Not any longer. Well, I guess I should be grateful that I even have a job at this point. It's so sad when you go to a small-town museum and you see exhibit after exhibit of industries that used to be there. All those jobs, now just museum exhibits. And then we wonder why the economy is in trouble.

Maybe what the world needs to do is to take the advice of some of the people in my church and turn to Jesus. After all, He does a remarkable job of providing for them. You know, unexpected checks in the mail and that sort of thing. Really. One person said the other day that they don't know how God does it but every month they end up having more money than when they started and they don't know where that money comes from, they've gone over and over their checkbook and they just don't see how they can have more. Well that is very interesting indeed. First of all, if I were them, I'd think twice about opening my mouth about something like that, you never know who might be working for Internal Revenue (tax)--and I am pretty positive that Internal Revenue would be VERY interested in their accounting practices and tax returns. Second of all, I know now who NOT to go to in that church for financial advice. Because if they don't know where their money is coming from then they aren't keeping very good track of their money no matter what they say. Or else they are so well off they don't need to budget strictly. You better believe that I know exactly where my money is coming from and what is or isn't in my account. Especially now that I am looking to buy a house. The bank told me that from this point on I have to be super careful in my financial transactions because it will reflect on my credit score.

Anyway I would dearly like to know where the money is and how I can go there to get some. I grew up listening to the refrain "we don't have any money," and now I am hearing it from my government. I am sick of hearing it. Somebody has the money somewhere. Who? Where?
