Too retarded?

There is a Facebook comment saying I'm too retarded.

If I've got nothing except dedication to my tasks, what else can I be, other than, well, looking stupid?

It's even a compliment in hyphy-speak

How cruel! I don't know where people get off in doing things like that. To go out of their way to post an inexpressibly rude remark on your Facebook page, that is like coming into your house. That takes a lot of nerve.

I had someone do something like that to me once, only it was a phone call, not a Facebook page. What they didn't know, what they had no way of knowing, was that I had just been to the doctor that day because I discovered a suspicious lump. "Yup, could be cancer," said the doc, and walked out. Just like that. Then I got the call. A female adolescent, "Retard, retard, you're a retard." I put down the phone and said, OK GOD, THAT IS ENOUGH! I HAVE HAD IT! If this is cancer, I am just going to let nature take its course.

Well, it wasn't cancer. And as for my tormentor, if it is who I think it is, she is dealing with her own little hells. She does not have a pretty future ahead of her, so I hope she is enjoying her little triumph, as it will probably be the only kind of "success" she will ever have. Sadly, I think she has forgotten it.

I may be an agnostic, but I strongly believe in Karma and What Goes Around Comes Around. Whoever wrote that will get theirs someday.

It is? (And what's "hyphy-speak?").

Getting stupid is getting a state of mind where one doesn't care, and in the hyphy/San Francisco Bay Area hip-hop scene, it is characterized with over-stated, fast-paced and ridiculous manner.

I feel that similar to the San Francisco Bay Area's contribution to the American hip-hop lexicon, most notably 'fo shizzle', autistic people in Singapore's obsessions with niche interests due to other people not caring about our contributions to Singapore society. And both leads to the same effect - disillusionment of the socially desirable things we want to do, and thereafter further entrenchment in whatever interests we do.

Since it's the case that they just speak their minds mindlessly, judging from my looks alone, then I'll just withdraw back to my interests - and tell myself, if I ain't gonna get accepted by society, it doesn't matter no matter what I did or will do - then just do what I can do best, because I don't have the luck to get accepted as what I think I can achieve!

Said person in question would have gotten a verbal thrashing from me following a response like that. Granted, I try to keep my FB kosher, but I make exceptions. (Fortunately, since I've privatized mine, and my 30 or so contacts are mostly people I know, an attack like this would be rare. If this did happen, I know where they live :D).

I appear to be nice here on this website but believe me, I've got an inner demon resting inside. I think everyone should have an inner demon for situations like that, but maybe that's just me. Anywhoo, just try to forget it, delete the post, and move on. There's over 6 billion people in this world and as such, you shouldn't let a one-man wrecking crew tear you down.

My friends, what bothers me is often not the lack of acceptance from society. It's more in the form of the lack of acceptance from fellow autistic people to really not have the ability to work together
