Dear Diary, the climate is changing, but not in the way you think,

  1. FYI Global warming's over. We are in deep solar minimum. Our summer was recorded as having some of the fewest sunspots on record. I doubt this will be a "Maunder Minimum", but don't say I didn't warn you. My recommendation is get some good boots and a nice coat. It's going to be a cold winter.

This is what the Mayan Calendar was all about. It was tracking solar cycles. Yes they wrapped it in superstition, but it has nothing to do with religion. Solar Cycle 24 was hottest on record, with the most sunspots, that's why in about 2011 up to about 2016 you have such hot temperatures.

The Mayan Calendar ended. What do you do when your calendar ends? It starts over. And the solar cycles do too. Track sunspot activity on http://www.spaceweather.com along with global temperatures and you will see what I mean.
