Day Two 1/01/19 Christchurch to Oamaru

Today went a lot better. Still hard but doing a lot better just adjusting to being okay with doing this but I still want to go home a lot but I think it’s actually going to be okay.

My day again started early but not 4am early more 6am early because the light shone through my curtains but I decided to get up and have a shower which was a great plan because I had the whole bathrooms to myself for my whole shower.

We got on the road at about 9.30am and headed out of Christchurch southwards. We first stopped in Rakaia at the park which was a lot of fun and to visit the big Salmon this stop kinda was the turning point of my day if I had to have one because I let myself enjoy what I was doing and it was fun I also took my camera out and took some photos which I love doing.

We kept going back in our campervan and I put on a podcast for my sister and I to listen to which was funny and a good way to pass the time as the view out the window was very boring just flat grass fields with a few rivers headed out the sea along the way so I didn’t really take any photos of the actual journey unlike last year. I believe we next stopped in Ashburton to go to the supermarket to get food again, I got a mini banana bread and I didn’t know anyone could make them as dry as it was so that was an experience.

We drove for another hour or just under and ended up in Timaru which was super cool out on the beach area and I took some more photos there was a fair thing going on and a performance in the sound shell it was cool to still see the original buildings from 1911 still being used and enjoyed (mostly by the oldies of the town but they were having a good time).

Onwards we went after my sister complained about walking for the hour that we explored the waterfront and we drove a little while longer and now we are in Oamaru for the night which was really cool we got to explore some of the town and we will go back into town tomorrow morning to explore more of the Steampunk stuff before we head off towards Dunedin. Oamaru is really cool and we are staying right next to the gardens which we went for a walk in after dinner and I took heaps of photos some highlights where messing around with my family, my sister seeing some bunnies have sex (am I allowed to say that), my dad pushing me in the swing at the park and my sister sassing some little girl after the girl told her she was too old to be on the digger in the sandpit.

Today actually ended up to be fun and I am still quite anxious especially about going to bed but I am rather excited for tomorrow and don’t wanna go home quite as much as this time yesterday.
