Aspie Cruelty

I won't quote the post that spurred this entry--or the approving(!) follow-up, but I have to say: we aspies can easily earn a reputation for cruelty, smallness, or indifference all too easily. Having a social deficit is no excuse for mocking other disabilities; the first is a given, but the second is a choice.

It's not that I expect us to be saints--God knows I'm not--but we fail ourselves when our abilities to observe other people and things without mercy aligns with a viciously accurate, witty jab, that tells a truth foully, and with unknown intent.

It's a serious error to underestimate the effects, not just on NTs, but on other aspies.

'Nuff said.

With great power comes great responsibility, would be a briefer summary of my intent. And I do hold people responsible, as they do me, and I cooperate andn collaborate largely because I know I could become monstrous myself if I don't.

No worries! Comments are good! Otherwise I'm just left in the stink of my own gnarly hypersensitive reflections, shaking my double-sided quills and making like The She-Crab. (This would be a bad thing.) Thank you for your comment, it was thoughtful and I liked it and wish you hadn't deleted it.
